Wir hoffen, dass ihr alle gut ins neue Jahr gestartet seit. :)
Wo wir uns hier im Jahr 2023 befinden, befindet sich Nepal bereits im
Jahr 2080!! Während unser gregorianische Kalender ein Sonnenkalender ist und sich am Lauf der Erde um die Sonne orientiert, rechnen die Nepalesen mit dem Bikram Sambat Kalender der ein Lunisolarkalender ist der sich nach Sonne als auch an den Mondphasen orientiert. Darum sind sie zu unserem Kalender "etwas" voraus. Gefeiert wird dann im April.
Seit kurzem fördern wir ein Träger, der bei der letzten Projektreise dabei war. Saroj ist ein junger talentierter Nepalese der es aus eigener Kraft nicht schaffen würde die Guide Ausbildung selber zu finanzieren. Auf Wunsch und Sponsorenbeiträgen einiger die an bei der Projektreise dabei waren, helfen wir Saroj weiter auf der Leiter hoch zu steigen. Er hat bereits die erste obligatorische Englisch-Schule besucht und startet bald mit der Guide-Ausbildung. Wir wünschen Saroj gutes Gelingen, und freuen uns ihm diese Chance geben zu können.
Pasang wird bald wieder nach Chheskam reisen und die nächsten Projekte aufgleisen. Zum einen möchten wir die Wasserversorgung erweitern und weitere 35 Häuser anschliessen. Für dieses Projekt müssen weitere Gespräche mit Landbesitzer geführt werden. Die Rohre würden durch privates Land führen, darum muss neu verhandelt werden. Die bisherigen Besitzer des Landes haben uns dieses Gratis zur Verfügung gestellt. So hoffen, wir dass es bei den nächsten auch so sein wird. Die einheimischen profitieren vom Wasser, daraus wird eine Zusammenarbeit vorausgesetzt.
Wir sind gespannt und freuen uns dann euch über die Verhandlungen berichten zu können. :)

We hope you all had a good start into the new year. :)
Whereas we are here in the year 2023, Nepal is already in the year
year 2080!!! While our Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar and is oriented to the course of the earth around the sun, the Nepalese reckon with the Bikram Sambat calendar, which is a lunisolar calendar that is oriented to the sun as well as the phases of the moon. That is why they are "slightly" ahead of our calendar. Celebrations are held in April.
We recently started sponsoring a porter who was with us on the last project trip. Saroj is a young talented Nepalese who would not be able to finance the guide training on his own. At the request and sponsorship of some of those who participated in the project trip, we are helping Saroj to climb further up the ladder. He has already attended the first compulsory English school and will soon start with the guide training. We wish Saroj good luck and are happy to give him this chance.
Pasang will soon travel back to Chheskam and start the next projects. Firstly, we would like to extend the water supply and connect another 35 houses. For this project, further discussions need to be held with landowners. The pipes would run through private land, so we have to renegotiate. The previous owners of the land have given it to us free of charge. So we hope that it will be the same for the next ones. The local people benefit from the water, so cooperation is required.
We are curious and look forward to being able to report to you on the negotiations. :)
