Kathmandu

6 Frauen, 6 Geschichten.

After five months I am now back in Kathmandu. It is also spring in Nepal and everything is in bloom. The temperatures are quite high. In spring, most of the ascents of the 8000m peaks take place. The groups are already acclimatizing. The spring trekking season this year has about 1/3 more people than last year. So slowly Nepal is getting back to pre-Covid numbers.
I arrived safely in Kathmandu yesterday after a long trip. I was picked up at the airport by Rokpa Guest House this time, as Pasang is traveling with the Australian doctors. Everything went well and I am glad to be back. But I was too tired to work.
Today there was a lot to do for me. First thing in the morning I had lessons in Nepali, yes I am trying again. :) Hope, this time with more success. After the lessons I brought the children's clothes to the 53 children in the orphanage of Rokpa. Since the children were still away at school, the photos will follow later. The manager of the orphanage will give the clothes to the children.

Then I met with Sahin, she is from the Nepalese women's organization and will hopefully be able to accompany me to Chheskam. We would like the women in Chheskam to be able to produce and sell things themselves. So they could earn their own money and become a bit more independent. Since Sahin is in great demand here in Kathmandu, another woman from the organization will probably accompany me.

Then I got a phone in between. Unfortunately the Nepalese doctor has to go to an emergency in the Khumbu and cannot come this time. But since Pasang is in Chheskam with Australian doctors, the women will be examined by them. The detailed conversation and exchange with the local midwives will take place another time.
Unfortunately, I cannot always influence everything here, not everything goes according to plan. But there is always a solution, I do not give up my goal so quickly.

Tomorrow I will have an interview with Sahin as well as a Nepalese female trek leader. I want to learn more about the local women. 6 women, 6 stories. From the interviews there will be a presentation. How do the women live, what are their desires, what are their goals. What is their religion and what are the customs. 6 women, 6 honest answers about real life in Nepal. More information to follow. :)

Then I will try to reach Samu. I hope the new Rigsaw has finally arrived in Kathmandu.

So dear readers, have a good night and see you soon.
