Meine zweite Saison im Berghaus Piz Kesch im schönen Val Tuors habe ich erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Alles ist versorgt, das Haus ist wintersicher und wartet auf die nächste Saison ab Mai 2026.
Für mich geht es zurück nach Nepal. :) Bereits am Donnerstag fliege ich in meine zweite Heimat. Dieses Jahr geht es in eine völlig neue Region. Mit zwei Freunden wandern wir ins Basis Lager des fünf höchsten Berges Makalu. Ich bin sehr gespannt und freue mich auf eine neue Region.
Als erstes in Kathmandu stehen einige Besuche von Patenkindern an. Mittlerweile sind es 18 Kinder, denen wir helfen. Ich freue mich sie zu sehen. Mir ist es auch wichtig die Schulen zu besuchen. Mal schauen ob dies möglich ist, denn es ist ein wichtiges hinduistisches Festival in Nepal.
Nach den Besuchen und einigen Besorgungen in der Stadt, reisen wir dann nach Chheskam, wo wir zwei Nächte bleiben werden. Die fertig gebaute Schule dürfen wir einweihen, es ist ein grosses Fest für uns geplant. Einige Patenkinder sind wegen des Festivals nach Hause nach Chheskam gereist, diese werde ich zu Hause besuchen.
Erst dann beginnt unser Trekking.
Die Schulhaus Renovation war unser letztes Projekt in Chheskam. Seit 2018 sind wir in diesem Dorf und konnten ihnen vieles ermöglichen. Nun ist es an der Zeit weiter zu ziehen, und anderen Dörfern zu helfen. Auf unserem Trekking kommen wir an zwei Dörfern vorbei, die Hilfsanfragen an uns gestellt haben. Wir werden diese besichtigen und dann entscheiden. Sicher wird es uns schwer fallen, Chheskam zu verlassen nach so vielen Jahren sind uns die Bewohner sehr ans Herz gewachsen. Sicher werden wir immer wieder einen Besuch machen in Chheskam, doch für uns gibt es nichts weiteres zu tun. Nun sind andere Dörfer im Fokus. Ich bin schon sehr gespannt, was uns erwartet.
Gerne werde ich euch dann informieren. Falls ich Empfang habe, werde ich auch Bilder veröffentlichen und Tagebuch schreiben. Es heisst im Makalu-Tal ist der Empfang schlecht. Sicherlich spätestens hört ihr von mir, wenn wir zurück in Kathmandu sind.
Gerne möchte ich euch noch auf den nächsten Koffermarkt in Bergün aufmerksam machen. Dieser findet am Sonntag, 14. Dezember im Ortsmuseum in Bergün statt. Ich freue mich auf euch.

I have successfully completed my second season at the Berghaus Piz Kesch in beautiful Val Tuors. Everything has been taken care of, the house is winterized and ready for the next season starting in May 2026.
For me, it's back to Nepal. :) I'm flying to my second home on Thursday. This year, I'm heading to a completely new region. Together with two friends, we will hike to the base camp of Makalu, the fifth highest mountain in the world. I am very excited and looking forward to exploring a new region.
First up in Kathmandu are a few visits to our sponsored children. We now help 18 children, and I am looking forward to seeing them. It is also important to me to visit the schools. We will see if this is possible, as it is an important Hindu festival in Nepal.
After the visits and a few errands in the city, we will travel to Chheskam, where we will stay for two nights. We will be able to inaugurate the completed school, and a big celebration is planned for us. Some of the sponsored children have traveled home to Chheskam for the festival, and I will visit them at home.
Only then will our trek begin.
The school renovation was our last project in Chheskam. We have been in this village since 2018 and have been able to make many things possible for them. Now it is time to move on and help other villages. On our trek, we will pass two villages that have asked us for help. We will visit them and then decide. It will certainly be difficult for us to leave Chheskam after so many years; we have grown very fond of the residents. We will certainly visit Chheskam again and again, but there is nothing more for us to do there. Now our focus is on other villages. I am very excited to see what awaits us.
I will be happy to keep you informed. If I have reception, I will also publish pictures and write a diary. I hear that reception is poor in the Makalu Valley. You will definitely hear from me when we are back in Kathmandu at the latest.
I would also like to draw your attention to the next suitcase market in Bergün. It will take place on Sunday, December 14, at the local museum in Bergün. I look forward to seeing you there.
