Warten, warten auf Schnee. Hier bei uns ist das zur Zeit ein grossen Thema. Kommt der Schnee noch, oder kommt er nicht? Wie geht es euch dabei?
Zur Zeit sind unsere Projekte ein bisschen auf Eis gelegt. Dies aus diesem Grund, weil Pasang zur Zeit in Amerika ist. Er hat die Chance bekommen auf eine drei monatige Anstellung in einem Sherpa Restaurant in Cololado. Für ihn ist das natürlich eine risen Chance, um Geld in der Zwischensaison zu verdienen. Noch bis anfangs März wird er dort sein. Natürlich habe ich mich sehr für ihn gefreut, dass er dorthin gehen kann. Für uns "negativ", dass wir mit unseren geplanten Projekten nicht weitermachen können. Ich hoffe ihr seit uns auch nicht böse und freut euch für Pasang. Wir werden dann im März mit unseren Projekten weitermachen und euch wieder davon berichten.
Mit der Kami-Stupa können wir erst starten, wenn sie eine Puja (eine Zeremonie) mit der alten Stupa gemacht haben. Dort müssen wir den heiligen Regeln folgen.
Die Finanzierung des Wasserprojekts in Boxwua ist noch nicht ganz erreicht. Uns fehlen noch ca. CHF 10'000.- bis zum Ziel. Unser Ziel ist es dieses Geld bis anfangs Mai zu haben, sodass wir dann im Juni mit dem Bau beginnen können.
Dieses Jahr gibt es keine Projektreise. Ich werde im Frühling nach Nepal reisen und mir ein privater Wunsch erfüllen. Schon seit längerer Zeit träume ich vom grossen Himalaya Trail. Der ganze Trail wäre 1700km und etliche Höhenmeter, natürlich. Um diesen Trail an einem Stuck zu machen, bräuchte ich ca. 2 1/2 Monate Zeit, diese habe ich leider nicht. Das Khumbu und den Makalu Part habe ich bereits. Ich werde im Frühling dann von Lukla bis Thame und dann weiter westlich wandern. Insgesamt werde ich ca. 37 Tage unterwegs sein. Ich freue mich riesig, neue Abschnitte in Nepal zu durchwandern. Ich laufe insgesamt 529km und bewältige 31'054 Höhenmeter aufwärts und 32'270 Höhenmeter abwärts, das in ca. 37 Tagen. Ich durchwandere sechs Regionen und überquere vier Pässe über 5'000 Meter. Claudio wird mich dann um den Manaslu begleiten. Diese Umrundung machten wir bereits 2016. Wir sind sehr gespannt, wie es sich in den 10 Jahren verändert hat. Bei diesem Trekking haben wir Pasang kennen gelernt. Ein Jubiläum also. Pasang wird mit Claudio laufen, wir freuen uns sehr.
In Kathmandu und in Lukla werde ich unsere Patenkinder besuchen. Für einen Besuch in Chheskam langt es leider dieses Jahr nicht. Im 2027 plane ich dann wieder die Besteigung des Baruntse. Den Berg an dem wir 2024 wegen zu starkem Wind umkehren mussten. Zur Akklimatisierung machen wir den Island Peak. Das ist der beliebteste Trekking-Berg und liegt im wunderschönen Khumbu-Tal. Waiting, waiting for snow. That's a big topic here at the moment. Will the snow come, or won't it? How are you doing?
Our projects are currently on hold because Pasang is in America at the moment. He has been given the opportunity to work for three months in a Sherpa restaurant in Colorado. This is, of course, a huge opportunity for him to earn money in the off-season. He will be there until the beginning of March. Of course, I was very happy for him that he was able to go there. For us, it is “negative” that we cannot continue with our planned projects. I hope you are not angry with us and are happy for Pasang. We will then continue with our projects in March and report back to you.
We can only start with the Kami stupa once they have performed a puja (ceremony) with the old stupa. We have to follow the sacred rules there.
The financing for the water project in Boxwua has not yet been fully secured. We are still about CHF 10,000 short of our goal. Our goal is to have this money by the beginning of May so that we can start construction in June.
There will be no project trip this year. I will travel to Nepal in the spring to fulfill a personal wish. I have been dreaming of the Great Himalaya Trail for a long time. The entire trail is 1,700 km long and involves quite a few meters of elevation gain, of course. To complete this trail in one go, I would need about 2 1/2 months, which I unfortunately don't have. I have already completed the Khumbu and Makalu sections. In spring, I will hike from Lukla to Thame and then further west. In total, I will be on the road for about 37 days. I am really looking forward to hiking new sections in Nepal. I will walk a total of 529 km and climb 31,054 meters and descend 32,270 meters in about 37 days. I will hike through six regions and cross four passes over 5,000 meters. Claudio will then accompany me around Manaslu. We already did this circuit in 2016. We are very excited to see how it has changed in the last 10 years. We met Pasang on this trek. So it's an anniversary. Pasang will be walking with Claudio, which we are very happy about.
I will visit our sponsored children in Kathmandu and Lukla. Unfortunately, I won't be able to visit Chheskam this year. In 2027, I plan to climb Baruntse again. This is the mountain we had to turn back from in 2024 due to strong winds. To acclimatize, we will climb Island Peak. This is the most popular trekking mountain and is located in the beautiful Khumbu Valley. Are you physically fit and would like to come along? We look forward to receiving your registration. :)
